Middle School Education

Educational programs offered for middle school students are intended to give students expanded knowledge and hands-on experience in the construction industry.  Students have the opportunity to work directly with industry representatives to create building designs and other innovative projects.  See individual listings for more information on these and other programs.


Building Design Program   On Site!
The Building Design Program, sponsored by the National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC), St. Louis Chapter, is structured to enhance applied math, communication, and problem-solving skills.  Students work on a team to create drawings for a 1,000 square feet home for a family of four.  Contact Donna Martin, the local Building Design coordinator, via telephone at 314-416-8296 for more information.  Please refer to the national NAWIC website for more information about the Building Design Program.

On Site! is a continuation of the Associated General Contractors sponsored program, Build Up!.  On Site! begins with informing middle school students of the different types of construction and the career opportunities that exist within the various areas of construction.  The On Site! curriculum is to be used as an addition to math, science, and social studies classes.  Please contact Joanne Engel via telephone at 314-644-1525, ext. 225 for more information.  Also, please refer to the website for more details on the On Site! program in St. Louis.
